UK sellers are not on the same rate card as US sellers, and most calculators quote the American one. Commission is 6.67% of the sale price (4% on Coins) for a seller with four-week sales of £0 to £9,999, and falls by tier to 4% to 5.25% (3.5% on Coins) at £85,000 or more. Not the American rate card
Whatnot publishes a rate card for the United Kingdom in pounds. It starts at 6.67% where the United States starts at 8%, its sales bands are lower (the top tier starts at £85,000 or more, against $500,000 or more in the US), and every rate on it is subject to VAT. That is why an American calculator gives a UK seller the wrong answer.
About the pounds
Whatnot publishes the flat transaction fee for the EU and UK as 0.25 in euros or pounds, so a UK sale is charged £0.25. The percentages do not depend on the currency at all.
Tax at checkout
The examples below add no sales tax on top of the sale, because UK prices are normally quoted with tax already included. The VAT that costs you money here is the VAT on Whatnot’s own fees. Whatnot charges it at your country’s standard rate unless you are VAT registered, and does not print the rate itself: the 20% used here is the UK standard rate, and you can change it or set it to 0 in the calculator.

What are Whatnot’s seller fees in the UK?
Commission is 6.67% of the item sale price for a seller with four-week sales of £0 to £9,999, and 4% on Coins. It falls as your sales rise. Payment processing is 2.42% of the total order value plus a flat £0.25 per transaction. VAT is then charged on those fees unless you are VAT registered. In the first example on this page (£25 single card, buyer pays £3.50 postage), that is £1.67 commission and £0.94 processing, plus £0.52 VAT on fees, leaving you £21.87.
What are Whatnot’s commission tiers in the UK, and when do they reset?

Are UK Whatnot fees different from US fees?
Yes. UK commission starts at 6.67% against 8%, processing is 2.42% against 2.9%, the flat fee is £0.25 against $0.30, the sales bands that set your tier are different, and UK rates are subject to VAT. Coins are the one row that matches, at 4% to 3.5% in both.
Is VAT charged on Whatnot’s fees?
Yes, unless you are VAT registered. Whatnot says it collects VAT on its commission and fees from sellers who are not registered, at the standard rate in their country, and does not collect it from sellers who are. This calculator shows it as its own line at 20%, the UK standard rate, and lets you change it. It is charged on the fees, not on your sale.
Does Whatnot charge commission on my postage?
No. Commission is charged on the item’s sale price only, excluding postage and tax. Payment processing is the one that is different: it is charged on the whole order total, so it does include buyer-paid postage and buyer-paid tax. You do pay a percentage on money that goes straight to the carrier, but it is the 2.42%, not the commission.
Does bundling a buyer’s wins into one parcel lower the fees?
No. Fees are charged per transaction, each time a buyer checks out, even when the purchases are later bundled into one parcel. Five wins pay five commissions, five percentages and five £0.25 fees. You save on the parcel and the postage, not on the fees.
