Whatnot fees calculator UK: what a UK seller actually takes home

UK sellers are not on the same fee table as US sellers, and most calculators quote the American one. Enter a sale in pounds and this page gives you the commission, the payment processing fee, the VAT charged on top of both, and what lands in your account.

Commission is 6.67% of the sale price in most categories and 4% on Coins & Money. Payment processing is 2.42% of the order total plus £0.25 per transaction. VAT on fees is charged on top of both, at 20%. Rates verified 31 July 2026 against Whatnot's published fee schedule.

You take home

£21.82

from £25.00 of sales. Total cost £3.18, an effective rate of 12.7%.

One table, several places

Whatnot publishes one fee table for the EU and the UK together, so a UK seller and a German seller are quoted the same percentages. That table is genuinely different from the one covering the United States, Canada and Australia, which is why an American calculator gives a UK seller the wrong answer.

About the pounds

Whatnot publishes this table’s flat transaction fee as 0.25 in euros or pounds, so a UK sale is charged 25p. The percentages do not depend on the currency at all.

Tax at checkout

The examples below add no sales tax on top of the sale, because UK prices are normally quoted with tax already included. The VAT that costs you money here is the VAT on Whatnot’s own fees, and that is on every line. If tax is added on top of your sale at checkout, put the rate into the calculator and watch the processing fee rise, because the percentage is charged on the tax too.

Questions UK sellers ask

What are Whatnot’s seller fees in the UK?

Commission is 6.67% of the item sale price in most categories and 4% on Coins & Money. Payment processing is 2.42% of the total order value plus a flat 25p per transaction. VAT is then charged on those fees at 20%. On a £25 card with £3.50 buyer-paid postage, that is £1.67 commission, £0.94 processing and £0.52 VAT, leaving you £21.87.

Are UK Whatnot fees different from US fees?

Yes, on four of the five published lines. UK commission is 6.67% against 8%, processing is 2.42% against 2.9%, the flat fee is 25p against 30 cents, and the UK pays VAT on Whatnot’s fees where the US table publishes no rate for tax on fees at all. Coins & Money is the one row that matches, at 4% in both. A calculator quoting you 8% plus 30 cents is quoting the American table.

Is VAT charged on Whatnot’s fees?

Yes. VAT applies to Whatnot’s commission and to the payment processing fee, and this calculator shows it as its own line rather than folding it into the others. The 20% used here is the UK standard rate and the rate in Whatnot’s own published worked example. It is charged on the fees, not on your sale.

Does Whatnot charge commission on my postage?

No. Commission is charged on the item’s final sale price only, excluding postage and tax. Payment processing is the one that is different: it is charged on the whole order total, so it does include buyer-paid postage and buyer-paid tax. You do pay a percentage on money that goes straight to the carrier, but it is the 2.42%, not the commission.

Is the 25p charged once per order or once per item?

Once per transaction. Whatnot applies fees each time a buyer checks out, and states that fees are calculated separately per transaction even when purchases are later bundled into one order or shipment. Five wins pay five commissions, five percentages and five 25p fees. Combining the parcel saves postage, not fees.

Do I pay Whatnot fees on a giveaway?

No. The buyer pays nothing, so there are no seller fees. You still pay the postage, so treat giveaways as marketing spend rather than as free.

One sale is arithmetic. A whole show is bookkeeping.

This page answers one sale with published rates. A real show is a few hundred sales, plus refunds, cancellations, giveaways and postage, and the fees Whatnot actually charged you are on the receipts rather than in a formula. LiveStreamPro reads those receipts and reports the real commission, the real processing and the real net for every show you have run.

The general Whatnot fee calculator covers every published region and category in one place, and Whatnot seller fees explained is the full write-up. Selling somewhere else? Whatnot fees in Canada, Whatnot fees in Australia.
