How do I scan and pack my Whatnot orders after a show?
Pack by shipment, not by sale. Whatnot bundles everything one buyer won in a show into one shipment with one label, so the safe way to pack is to open one shipment at a time, check every item into the box, and only then print its label. LiveStreamPro does exactly that on its Pack & Ship screen: scan an item label or a packing slip, the right shipment opens, you tick the items off, and the label prints when the box is complete.
Why packing a show by hand goes wrong
A show sells item by item, but it ships buyer by buyer. Three hundred sales might be ninety boxes, and the only thing connecting a card on your table to the right box is your memory of who won it two hours ago. That gap is where a wrong item, a missing item, or a second label for the same buyer comes from.
The fix is the same whether you use software or a clipboard. Give every sold item something you can read back later, sort by buyer before you tape anything, and do not print a label for a box until you have seen everything that belongs in it.
What LiveStreamPro does once the show ends
LiveStreamPro captures each sale while you are live, so by the time you stop streaming the packing list already exists. On the Pack & Ship screen:
- Every open shipment is listed, grouped by show, and you can start with one show or pack everything by scan deadline.
- You scan an item label or a packing slip and LiveStreamPro opens the shipment it belongs to. If the same item sits in more than one open shipment, it asks you to pick the buyer.
- The packing screen shows one shipment at a time and counts where you are, for example shipment 12 of 90.
- You tick each item as it goes into the box. If you scan an item that belongs to a different buyer, the screen tells you whose shipment it belongs to instead of letting it into the wrong box.
- When everything is checked off, one button prints the shipping label and moves you to the next shipment.
The label that prints is the one Whatnot issued for that shipment. LiveStreamPro does not buy postage or make its own carrier labels. If Whatnot has not generated a label yet, the screen says so and sends you to Whatnot to generate it.
Where the scannable labels come from
LiveStreamPro prints three kinds of document: an item label for the thing you sold, a packing slip for what goes in the box, and the carrier shipping label. Item labels and packing slips carry a barcode, and the item barcode identifies the listing, which is what lets a scan at the packing table find the right shipment.
Each kind of label can go to its own printer, so a small item label can come out next to the host while shipping labels print at the packing table. The labels and templates page lists the sizes, and automatic printing covers what prints on its own and when.
Pull everything first, or pack buyer by buyer
Sellers pack in two ways and both work. Buyer by buyer suits a small table: open a shipment, find its items, close it. Pulling first suits a big show: walk the shelves once with a list of every item sold, then pack from the pile.
LiveStreamPro has both views of the same run. One is ordered by buyer. The other is a pick list ordered by item, showing how many of each you need and across how many shipments. The checkmarks are shared, so you can switch between them without losing your place.
When a buyer wants their order split or held
Whatnot lets you unbundle a shipment until its label is made. LiveStreamPro follows the same rule: while no label exists you can move whole orders out of a shipment into a new one for the same buyer, and once a label has printed the split is locked until you void that label in Whatnot. Giveaway shipments and flat-rate shipments have their own filters, because they pack differently.
After the last box, each shipment moves to handed off when the carrier scans it, and the shipments list keeps the tracking for every one. For the label side of the job on its own, see how to print Whatnot shipping labels.
