Spot
A purchased position in a break that entitles the buyer to a defined share of what gets opened.
A spot is one position in a break. Buying a spot entitles you to a defined share of whatever is opened: a specific team in a team break, a randomly assigned slice in a random break, or a numbered position in other formats. Spot prices vary with the odds attached to the position, which is why a top team in a team break can cost many times more than a long shot.
For sellers, spots are inventory that only exists for one show: every spot must be sold, tracked to its buyer, and matched to the cards pulled for it during pack-out. Mistakes here are expensive in refunds and trust, which is why high-volume breakers run systems rather than memory.
