Hobby box
A box of trading cards sold through hobby distribution rather than mass retail, typically built with better stated odds on hits.
A hobby box is the version of a card product sold through hobby distribution, meaning card shops, hobby distributors and the breakers who buy from them, rather than through supermarkets and big-box retail. For most products the manufacturer builds the hobby version differently: fewer packs of a higher configuration, and better stated odds on autographs and other hits.
The distinction matters on stream because that one word changes what a break is worth. A hobby break and a retail break of the same product are not the same purchase, and buyers know it. Retail versions, sold as blasters, hangers, mega boxes and value packs, carry their own exclusive parallels but much longer odds on the big pulls.
Say which one you are opening, every time, in the title and out loud. Pack odds are printed on the packaging for a reason, and a buyer who works out afterwards that the break they bought into was retail will not buy the next one. What a given product's hobby configuration actually guarantees varies by set and by year, so read that year's odds rather than repeating last year's.
