Break (box break)
A live event where sealed product is opened on stream and buyers purchase shares of whatever is inside.
A break is a live show format where the seller opens sealed product on camera, most often trading card boxes or cases, and buyers have bought a share of the contents before the opening. Instead of buying a specific card, you buy a position in the break, and whatever is pulled for your position is yours.
Positions are sold as spots. Common formats include team breaks, where each spot is a sports team and you get every card of that team pulled, and random breaks, where spots are assigned by a randomizer after everyone buys in. The thrill is the reveal: nobody, including the seller, knows what is inside.
For sellers, breaks compress a lot of sales into a short window and give the room a shared moment to watch together. They also demand tight tracking, because one box opening can produce dozens of items owed to different buyers.
